New Product Introduction & Supply Chain Project Manager - Sweden Biomanufacturing Center
Do you have experience in—and passion for—leading projects and teams? Are you looking for a chance to make a difference for people worldwide? Then your future starts with us!
Sweden Biomanufacturing Center (SBC), part of AstraZeneca, is a strategic launch site producing future biological medicines. Operating in a multicultural, global environment, our digital solutions, LEAN culture, and focus on sustainability drive us forward. We create value through curiosity, courage, and accountability, tailoring our solutions to meet patients’ needs. SBC is expanding and investing in the latest technology, and we are seeking your expertise to collaboratively drive our vision forward.
Do you want to work for a company that makes a difference for both its employees, patients, and the planet?
We now offer an exciting opportunity to join our Biomanufacturing Center located in Södertälje, as a New Product Introduction & Supply Chain Project Manager (NPI & SC PM).
Business Area
SBC is the launch site for parental products covering both biological and synthetic molecules. The business area is expanding; many new products are being sited, and the portfolio of establishment and supply chain change projects is growing.
The SBC NPI & SC project management team is responsible for establishing new products at the site and managing our commercial parenteral drug product and finished pack products to ensure we supply medicines to patients around the world on time. We are a diverse team that works closely with cross-functional partners locally and globally across our networks to ensure excellent customer service.
What you’ll do
You will be accountable for projects within the NPI/SC portfolio, with sub-projects/workstreams that can include Capex, Tech Transfer, new supply chain paths, QC, etc. You will ensure delivery on time, within cost, scope, and quality to meet regulatory and GMP requirements, in accordance with global and local processes.
To be able to manage the different types of projects you need to understand on a high level the implications of drug substance, product manufacturing, packaging configurations, anticipated volumes, third- party services and customer constraints.
You will act as a team member in various global and local teams, establishing strong working relationships with stakeholders and demonstrating a collaborative approach. To drive team activities and projects forward, you will raise potential improvements, gaps/issues, solutions, and mitigations to relevant teams and stakeholders.
It is essential to understand customer needs and constraints and to lead effectively in an environment with uncertainty and changing assumptions and requests.
Other tasks and responsibilities:
- Lead end-to-end product projects: Drive site assessments and NPI and SC initiatives to ensure SBC can manufacture, store, and supply products, securing regulatory and commercial readiness for launches and switches
- Deliver within agreed constraints and ensure continuity: Execute projects to defined cost, timeline, scope, and quality; ensure smooth handover to BAU with minimal disruption
- Governance, risk, and stakeholder alignment: Monitor plans vs. targets, manage risks/issues/opportunities, communicate cross-project impacts, manage scope changes, and escalate decisions as needed across local and global stakeholders
- Build high-performing teams and embed excellence: Allocate resources, lead cross-functional experts, translate complex technical topics, support inspection readiness (PAI), and embed LEAN and continuous improvement across NPI/SC
Essential for the role
- A bachelor’s degree in engineering, pharmacy, chemistry, or a related science—or a business-related field and a minimum of 5 years’ experience in the pharmaceutical industry
- Experience in at least one of the following areas is expected: supply chain management, process technology/development, new product introduction, business development, logistics and distribution, regulatory/quality assurance, or engineering projects
- A comprehensive understanding of Operations and a strong grasp of how other functions contribute to both global and local business objectives, along with knowledge of Lean principles and practices
- Demonstrated experience in project/program management principles and techniques, with the ability to drive results, take balanced risks, and make decisions in complex environments
- Strong leadership, influencing, and communication skills with a proven ability to foster high-performance teamwork, build effective stakeholder relationships, and collaborate and communicate across teams and at all levels of management, including participation in key leadership forums locally and globally
- To be structured and well organized, able to cope with change, pivot direction when needed, and act with incomplete information. Skilled at handling a wide range of problems requiring well-developed conceptual thinking and judgment to find solutions
- Be able to communicate in Swedish and English, both oral and writing
Desirable Requirements
- Experience with product launches and product switches.
- Understanding of end-to-end product lifecycle management.
